We have always cherished the opportunity to be involved with people. "Ossian Hall Valley Retreat" commenced operation in October 1999 as a self funding retirement venture which has flourished way beyond our expectations.

Our property - Ossian Hall - was originally given to Andrew McDougall and his family in the early 1800's as a land grant by Governor Macquarie. The McDougall's arrived in Australia in 1798 on the SS Barwell from England as one of the first three, free settler families to arrive here. Our property is in a beautiful part of the world and it gives us a great deal of pleasure to share it with others.

For many years we have lived in a country environment, farmed various animals and enjoyed being out on the farm. Di has been busy in the past with our 4 children and now 6 grandsons', we operated 2 magnificent white horse drawn carriages in the wedding industry for nearly 10 years all around greater Sydney and parts of NSW.

Now the horse and carriage is employed as part of our Romantic Packages we offer to our Guests. An engineer by trade I spent most of my life as an Officer in the NSW Fire Service, a very satisfying career. Now we put our heart and soul into our Tourism venture enjoying the rewards of making our guests feel extra special. This two way street of satisfaction has resulted in us being the recipients of many awards in the Tourism Industry, our proudest moment taking out Best Unique Accommodation in NSW with the NSW Tourism awards 2007 and Gold Winner Hosted Accommodation NSW Tourism Awards 2009.

We were the first accommodation business in NSW to be accredited Gold Level Aussie Hosts for customer serve. It is our intention to continue delivering excellent Customer Service to our many treasured Guests in the future and hopefully exceeding their expectations.
